There are over 4,000 religions in the world right now if you can believe that, but most of us are probably hard pressed to name more than a dozen or two off the top of our heads. Of course, nearly 75% of the world's population all follow the top five religions, so the rest can be pretty obscure when you get down to them. Some are extremely old and have been practiced for many thousands of years. Some were created in the last century. Pastafarianism, also known as the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, dates back to about 2005. So people are constantly coming up with new things to believe in. It's human nature.

Another aspect of human nature, one that some of us would try to avoid but are constantly tempted back to, is dessert. We just love dessert as a species. And why not?
